¹¹ For ^(A)in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.

¹³ “You are to speak to the people of Israel and say, ‘Above all you shall keep my Sabbaths, for this is a sign between me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I, the Lord, sanctify you.

²⁵ You shall not do any ordinary work, and you shall present a food offering to the Lord.”

^15 (A)You shall remember that you were a slave^[a] in the land of Egypt, and the Lord your God brought you out from there ^(B)with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm. Therefore the Lord your God commanded you to keep the Sabbath day.

¹² Moreover, I gave them ^(A)my Sabbaths, as a sign between me and them, ^(B)that they might know that I am the Lord who sanctifies them.

²⁷ And he said to them, ^(A)“The Sabbath was made for man, ^(B)not man for the Sabbath.

Let No One Disqualify You

¹⁶ Therefore let no one ^(A)pass judgment on you ^(B)in questions of food and drink, or with regard to ^(C)a festival or ^(D)a new moon or a Sabbath. ^17 (E)These are a shadow of the things to come, but ^(F)the substance belongs to Christ.

⁴ For he has somewhere spoken of the seventh day in this way: ^(A)“And God rested on the seventh day from all his works.” ⁵ And again in this passage he said,

⁶ Since therefore it remains for some to enter it, and those who formerly received the good news ^(C)failed to enter because of disobedience, ⁷ again he appoints a certain day, “Today,” saying through David so long afterward, in the words already quoted,

⁸ For if Joshua had given them rest, God^[a] would not have spoken of another day later on. ⁹ So then, there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God, ¹⁰ for whoever has entered God's rest has also ^(E)rested from his works as God did from his.
